The Language Institute is a department of the University of Montemorelos that was established to serve the community and to prepare, under the Adventist worldview, national, and international students for the mission field, providing them with the necessary tools to learn a second language, its history, and its culture. We offer English, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic and Mexican Sign Language.
The Spanish program takes one year (two semesters and a summer) and it is designed in eight levels of five-week each. It focuses on the development of four basic skills: verbal interaction, listening comprehension, written interaction, and reading comprehension. The mastery of the four skills will allow the students to function efficiently in the different areas in which they will conduct. At the end of the Spanish course, a DELE-type exam is applied to prove that the candidate has mastered the four skills at the B2 level required to enter the university or postgraduate program of his/her choice.
The Language Institute of the University of Montemorelos is an authorized center for the application of certification exams by Cambridge English Exams. We are affiliated with The Anglo International Exams Center. The certifications offered are CPE, CAE, TKT in all its modules, YLE and CLIL; Certification exams are generally applied on Fridays.
The Language Institute promotes an atmosphere of respect, tolerance, and admiration for the cultural differences represented by the students we serve. The countries represented are Egypt, Brazil, various Caribbean islands, European, African, and Asian countries.
We have more than 40 years of experience teaching English and preparing our students to be certified by recognized international organizations which is one of our strengths. We have more than 20 years of experience in teaching English, French, Spanish and our teachers are native speakers.
English and French classes are offered to children, adolescents, and adults throughout the school year; English classes are provided for children from 9 months. All courses focus on the development of skills such as listening, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing. During Summers, we offer intensive English classes to adults.
We offer a Spanish course for international students designed to help them develop the Spanish language skills necessary to attend any university or graduate program. Being part of an immersion program will help students develop speaking skills faster at the same time they learn to appreciate the culture of this country.
